Fair housing.

I support the Fair Housing Act and the principles behind it. Equal access to housing — across race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability — isn’t optional. It’s the law, and it’s how I work as a Houston REALTOR®.

Fair Housing Statement

Title VIII, Civil Rights Act of 1968.

Eddie Weir and REMAX fully support the principles of the Fair Housing Act (Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968), as amended, which generally prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of dwellings, and in other housing-related transactions, based on:

  • Race
  • Color
  • National origin
  • Religion
  • Sex
  • Familial status — including children under the age of 18 living with parents or legal custodians, pregnant women, and people securing custody of children under the age of 18
  • Handicap (disability)

Texas-specific protections.

In addition to federal Fair Housing protections, Texas state law and the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) Code of Ethics impose corresponding obligations on every licensed Texas REALTOR® and brokerage. As a Houston REALTOR®, I am bound by both federal and Texas Fair Housing requirements on every transaction.

As an adjunct to the foregoing commitment, I actively promote and am committed to creating and fostering an environment of diversity throughout my client work. I view this as a critical component of how I do business in Greater Houston — not a compliance line item.
