What top 1% means

The Top 1% label is earned, not self-assigned.

Houston is one of the largest real estate markets in the country, with thousands of active REALTORS®. Production-based recognition like Top 1% Producer, Top 500 Producer, and the 100 Club is calculated against the entire population of agents in the market — by transaction count and volume reported through the MLS and brokerage records. These rankings re-run every year. Last year is the only year that matters.

What does that mean in practice? It means a buyer’s or seller’s agent who closes deals regularly is more useful than one who closes occasionally. Active agents see more contracts, negotiate more often, work with more lenders, watch more inspections happen, and recover more deals from the kinds of complications that derail a transaction. The work isn’t glamorous. It’s repetition under pressure.

Designations & credentials

Three letters after the name, each earned the same way: extra coursework, exam, and a track record.

Anyone can sell real estate in Texas with a basic license. Designations are voluntary professional credentials issued by industry organizations and require additional training, testing, and minimum production thresholds. Eddie holds three.

National Association of REALTORS®

REALTOR®

Members of the National Association of REALTORS® agree to a strict Code of Ethics that is more demanding than Texas state license law. The Code includes duties to clients, the public, and other REALTORS® — and is enforced by local boards. Not every licensed agent is a REALTOR®.

Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council

ABR® — Accredited Buyer’s Representative

The premier credential for buyer representation. Requires the two-day ABR Designation Course, an approved elective, documented buyer-side transaction experience, and ongoing continuing education. Fewer than one in ten licensed agents nationally hold it.

REMAX, LLC

LUXE — The REMAX Collection

REMAX’s luxury-tier designation. Qualifying agents have closed transactions in the upper price tier of their local market and complete the LUXE training program. Marketing and concierge resources for luxury listings come bundled.
