Official boundary lookups, published district ratings and a dated view of the homes listed in four Greater Houston districts.
Start with the address
Where are the Houston school-district boundary maps?
There is no single Houston mailing address or ZIP rule that establishes school assignment. Use the school district’s official address lookup, select the intended grade and school year, and verify the assignment with that district.
The four guides below cover Houston Independent School District (HISD), Katy Independent School District (KISD), Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) and Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD).
Four official starting points
Houston Independent School District
Use the School Locator for the address, then check the maps for the intended school year. Magnet and other choice programs have separate application rules.
Katy Independent School District
SARA identifies the school assignment for a residential address and displays campus boundaries. A Katy postal address alone does not establish district or campus assignment.
Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District
The official locator identifies school assignment by residential address for pre-K through grade 12 in 2026–27. Confirm the intended grade and school year with the district; attendance boundaries can change.
Fort Bend Independent School District
Use the 2026–27 lookup and read the district’s approved boundary changes. Fort Bend County is served by multiple school districts; the county name and a Sugar Land mailing address are not assignment evidence.
District source pages checked October 1, 2026. Other Greater Houston districts are outside this four-guide comparison.
Relocating to Houston?
If you are buying from out of state, I help you narrow the search before you fly in, check the flood history of the specific address before you make an offer, and work out the property tax and any MUD (municipal utility district) tax before you settle on a price. If you can’t be in Houston to sign, I work with your lender and title company to set up a remote closing.

Active listings as of September 24, 2026. Days to offer is the median for homes that actually closed June 1–August 31, 2026. These statistics describe housing inventory, not school quality.

How these housing numbers were calculated
Source: Houston Association of REALTORS® MLS. Active snapshot: September 24, 2026. Days to offer uses homes with an actual closing date from June 1 through August 31, 2026. These are different cohorts.
HAR board 147; sale listings; both residential and condo MLS classes; residential property type; active status excluding Coming Soon. Duplicate MLS numbers are counted once. District groups use the exact MLS HighSchoolDistrict label, which is a research field and does not verify an address’s school assignment.
Prices and asking dollars per square foot are active-listing medians, not sale prices or a value estimate for a specific home. Home age is 2026 minus the reported year built. Days to offer is the MLS daysOnMarket field among the closed cohort; soldDate is not used as a closing date. Each metric excludes its own missing or invalid values; zero days is retained. Dollar figures are rounded to the nearest dollar.

| Houston Independent School District | B / 85 | Official 2026 TEA report |
| Katy Independent School District | B / 88 | Official 2026 TEA report |
| Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District | B / 86 | Official 2026 TEA report |
| Fort Bend Independent School District | B / 82 | Official 2026 TEA report |
All four are from TEA’s 2026 Accountability Rating Overall Summary, updated September 2026 and checked October 1. District results do not establish the rating of an individual campus. Review the campus report and program details once an address is confirmed.
From a district map to a home decision
- Look up the exact address. Use the district’s tool, including unit number when applicable. A city, ZIP code or subdivision name is not enough.
- Check the grade and school year. Read approved boundary changes and ask the district about a new street or unfinished subdivision that is missing from the locator.
- Confirm the assignment with the district. Keep the response with your home-search notes. Check enrollment documents, program eligibility and transportation separately.
- Compare the individual campus. Review its current TEA report, course offerings and programs that matter to you. A district-wide grade does not describe every campus.
