Which Houston areas should I compare for my work location?
Start with the work address and schedule, then compare the homes you can actually buy. I am Eddie Weir, REALTOR® with REMAX Signature, and I can help you weigh Greater Houston housing choices using commute, budget and property details.
Energy Corridor
Compare Energy Corridor, Memorial, Spring Branch and Katy against the exact office entrance and your arrival time. A location farther west may suit the home search, but test that route at your shift before deciding.

Texas Medical Center
Compare inner-loop choices with Medical Center South, Pearland, Missouri City and Sugar Land using the same arrival time. Add parking, walking and any rail or shuttle connection to the door-to-door trip.

Downtown
Compare Downtown-area, EaDo, Midtown/Montrose and Heights homes using the building and parking destination, not a general downtown pin. If transit is part of your plan, verify service hours and the final walk for the actual work schedule.

NASA Johnson Space Center
Start with Clear Lake-area homes and the specific campus entrance you will use. Compare League City or other nearby options by the same route and shift before choosing the home/commute balance.

Port Houston and the ship-channel area
Identify the terminal, plant or work gate first, because these destinations are spread across the corridor. Compare east and southeast-area homes against that gate and shift; do not use one generic port commute for every facility.
George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
Compare Humble/Kingwood-area and other north-Houston choices using the employee parking area, terminal or work entrance that applies to you. Include employee transport, overnight schedules and any tolls in the trip comparison.
How should I read a drive-time estimate?
Use an arrive-by or depart-at comparison for the same weekday and work schedule, record the actual origin and destination, and check toll settings. The TMC and Energy Corridor guides include an explicitly dated September 24 Google Maps sample; it is a planning reference, not a current forecast. Add parking, walking and shuttle time separately.
What if I have two workplaces or a hybrid schedule?
Compare both trips and count how often you make each one. Five extra minutes each way, five days a week for fifty weeks, is about 42 hours per year; your own schedule and priorities determine whether a different home is worth that time.
Can public transit help?
METRO’s TMC guide identifies rail and bus options serving the medical-center area. Check current routes, service hours and the last connection for the exact workplace before making transit part of a home-buying decision.
What else should I compare?
Use the relocation area guide, official school lookup links and flood-zone-by-address tool alongside each property’s taxes, HOA costs and condition.

West and northwest: Memorial, Katy, Fulshear and Cypress. Inner and southwest: Bellaire and West University, Medical Center South, Pearland, River Oaks and Tanglewood and Uptown. For another north-side comparison, see The Woodlands. Check each candidate’s actual work route before narrowing the search.
